Q: Can you provide some details about your background?
A: Sure! I am the Founder of Cornerstone Wealth Partners in the NYC area and have been running the practice since 2021.
My hometown is Beachwood, part of the Toms River school system in New Jersey. It’s a big sports town located an hour south of New York City, an hour east of Philadelphia, and an hour north of Atlantic City, right at the beach. I’ve lived here my whole life and don’t plan on moving.
I attended Rider University for business and have always wanted to work in the financial services industry.
I have been married to Christina for 11 years and we have three children, Alex (10), Max (8), and Elizabeth (5). Outside of being a husband and dad, I’m a sports nut! I still play soccer for the Jackson Lions and I love coaching soccer and baseball teams. My family and I enjoy outdoor activities like skiing, camping, and surfing, and I’m also into golf. My wife is from Germany, and despite our differences, we make a great team.
Q: In addition to sports, you also have an ear for music. What inspired you to start playing the piano?
A: My grandmother insisted on me playing the piano, and since I was skilled, I stuck with it. Initially it felt like a duty, but it became enjoyable as others recognized my talent. I developed a passion for it, taking lessons for over a decade and playing for around 30-35 years. While I entertain family and friends with popular tunes on Halloween – like Billy Joel and Freddie Mercury — I personally prefer challenging classical pieces by composers like Beethoven, Debussy, and Bach.
Q: What sparked your interest in pursuing a career in the finance industry?
A: I always dreamed of becoming a financial advisor, a goal I set with my guidance counselor in high school. I pursued a business finance program to achieve this dream. Despite growing up with financial struggles, I was drawn to the allure of the finance industry, envisioning myself in a sharp suit in New York City as a stockbroker. However, once I delved into the reality of the field, I realized it wasn’t for me. Nonetheless, I graduated with a degree in business finance and quickly secured a job as a financial advisor, obtaining all necessary licenses.
Upon attending Rider University, I obtained my licenses: Series 66 and 7, along with life and health insurance. Initially aspiring to be a stockbroker, I soon discovered the distinction between that role and that of a financial advisor. While a stockbroker seemed more like a salesman, focused on transactions, a financial advisor provided comprehensive solutions and forward progress for clients. Despite the contrast, I immediately embraced the role of a financial advisor and never looked back.
Q: What drives your passion for financial advising?
A: My passion for financial advising is driven by two key factors: my competitive nature and desire to excel. I thrive on solving challenges for clients and witnessing their satisfaction. Building trust and rapport is crucial, allowing me to provide tailored solutions effectively. I go the extra mile for my clients, even during crises like COVID-19, ensuring their financial security. Retirement planning is particularly rewarding for me, guiding individuals through important life decisions. While I may not actively network, my professional reputation and client referrals have led to significant growth, reaching clients from various states.
Q: What triggered your interest in partnering with Financial Resources Group?
A: The main reason I chose FRG was because of Cindy Nagel. Despite receiving numerous calls of support over the years, Cindy stood out to me because I felt she genuinely cared. Her dedication and genuine desire to help gave me confidence in her and the team. Even though I work with others now – in the marketing department and so on, Cindy’s initial impact made me trust in FRG’s services.
