Q: Can you tell us a bit about your background and family?
A: I was born and raised in New Richmond, Wisconsin, where I still live today. New Richmond offers that small-town charm and close-knit community, while also benefiting from its proximity to the Twin Cities. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls with a degree in Business. I’ve been married to my wife, Heather, for nearly three decades, and we’re proud parents of two kids—our daughter Payton is successfully navigating her career after graduating from my alma mater, and our son Joe is set to graduate from UW-La Crosse in Spring 2025 with a degree in Finance and Accounting.
Q: What are your personal/unique interests?
A: I enjoy playing golf, as it gives me a chance to appreciate the outdoors and socialize with friends—it’s a great mix of leisure and sport. I also love cheering on the Minnesota Wild Hockey team; the fast-paced energy and skill of the game really draw me in.
Q: How did you get started in finance, and what have you learned over your career?
A: My finance journey began with a college internship at the bank my father managed, where I learned the value of compassionate customer interactions in building trust and loyalty. With over 30 years in the industry and 25 years as a financial advisor, I’ve witnessed many changes in finance and the economy, allowing me to evolve my strategies. Staying informed on market trends and economic shifts helps me navigate the ever-changing financial landscape and serve my clients better.
Q: What’s your approach when working with clients?
A: My approach focuses on 5 key elements:
Personalized Care: Taking the time to understand each client’s unique financial situation.
Customized Strategies: Tailoring investment recommendations to align with clients’ life goals and risk tolerance.
Client Education: Empowering clients with knowledge, so they can make informed decisions and feel confident in the investment process.
Emotional Support: Offering both financial and emotional support to ensure clients feel cared for on a holistic level.
Referrals: I view client referrals as a testament to the trust we build, which motivates me to continue providing exceptional service.
