Q: Can you tell us a bit about your background and family?

A: I was born and raised in Southwest Virginia and attended college at Virginia Tech. My wife, Amy, and I have been married for 24 years, and we’re proud parents of two incredible daughters, Kayla and Alex. It’s been a joy watching them grow into intelligent, successful, and compassionate young professionals. Outside of work and family life, I enjoy spending time on the coast of North Carolina with my wife, playing golf, and cheering on the Virginia Tech Hokies with friends.

Q: How did you get started in finance, and what have you learned over your career?

A: My journey in finance started over 20 years ago. Before founding Valley Wealth Group, I worked for an international wirehouse, a large regional bank, and a community bank. These experiences gave me a unique perspective on the industry and shaped the client-focused culture we’ve built at Valley Wealth Group. I’ve always believed that understanding my clients’ needs and goals is the key to providing personalized, strategic financial guidance.

Q: What’s your approach when working with clients?

A: My approach is centered around the client—whether we’re planning for retirement, implementing investment strategies, or helping with business succession, their needs and goals are always the priority. I’m particularly passionate about working with business owners because I understand firsthand the challenges they face. Our services are tailored to help them manage both personal and business finances, giving them the freedom to focus on running their companies.

Q: What are some key areas of focus at Valley Wealth Group?

A: At Valley Wealth Group, we specialize in retirement planning, managing assets and income during retirement, and helping clients create lasting family legacies. I’ve built my career on retirement planning, and it’s always been a core focus of my work. We also manage client assets through LPL Financial, which provides us with the resources to serve our clients at the highest level.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

A: Outside of being a financial advisor and a dad, I love spending time with my wife on the North Carolina coast, playing golf, and catching up with friends. And of course, we’re big Virginia Tech Hokies fans, so we love cheering them on whenever we can!
