Believe it or not, this is the 18th year that we are observing Cybersecurity Awareness Month – ensuring that all financial consultants and employees have the resources needed to be safer and more secure online. As we all know, technology and the use of the internet via our smart phones, tablets, laptops and computers along with the ability to leverage the cloud on just about every conceivable device has created both an enormous amount of efficiency and scale, but also a significant amount of risk. From phishing and ransomware attacks to identity theft and impersonation scams, there is rarely a day that goes by where we do not see the details of cybercrime and the painful impacts it can have on individuals and companies. The protection and privacy of all financial consultants, employees and client information is critical to a strong reputation and continued business success, but for many of us, it can be a little intimidating.
